Retired in 2005 and now travel back and forth from Statesville to Emerald Isle. I do a lot of traveling working on family history. My hobbies are beaching, boating, fishing, golfing, and gardening.
I taught in three high schools. Ayden-Grifton, Statesville High School, and West Iredell High school. I coached wrestling and Soccer. I also designed houses, taught at Mitchell College, and some other odd jobs to educate my children. In 2000 I bought a place on Emerald Isle, a place I have visited since my college days at East Carolina. Brenda retired this year and adjusting to being around each other is new, but exciting. I have traveled the US to reunions and boosting my US Grimes relatives to over 7000 names. Long to go to Scotland and pick up prior to the 1530's. Planning a road trip to the mountains of Montana this spring and of course several trips back and forth to Emerald Isle.
In 2014 Brenda and I took a northwest road trip. Started out going to OK to see her sister, on to KS,CO,WY,MT,ND,SD,NB,MI, and back home. This year my son Steven and I are heading west to a reunion in TX, up to OK, west through west TX, NM,AR,NV,CA, to the pacific, back through Death Valley, Vegas, many parks in CO, the hwy 70 back home. March of 2015 my son Steven and I took a coast to coast drive. Visited my brother in Shreveport, went to the Duck Commander, visited relatives in Texas and Oklahoma. Took Route 66 out west through TX, NM, AZ and so on. Visited the painted desert, an ancient volcano, Hoover dam, Grand Canyon, Arches in Utah, Mohave desert, and Las Vegas. Traveled on to San Diego to see a cousin in Escondido and visited the beach. On the trip back spent a few days in Colorado. Traveling for two weeks was great and the time with Steven. Maybe next year will bring another trip.
Now in 2018 I have lost both parents and my grand daughter is becoming a young lady. Life is fast. Still enjoying the beach and traveling.throwing away stress every day and living full.
